Keep Dancing, Dr. Angelou

Amiri Baraka and Maya Angelou dance at the The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in New York.

“Does my sexiness upset you?

Does it come as a surprise?

That I dance like I’ve got diamonds

At the meeting of my thighs?”

  1. Listened to her recite this on NPR w Jack tonight. He thought it was really cool. And he isn’t my literary loving kid. đź‘Ť

    • But that’s the power of Maya Angelou right there, with Jack, able to pull in even those who don’t traditionally love the written word. She was fabulous, in all ways. We’re really so lucky to have had her in our midst and have really lost something so precious and dear with her passing.
